The amazing flying boy!

Facing east....

Superman tummy flying

Turned a bit now

Okay, we've made it to southwest....

Almost there...

And we made it to face West.  No mommy help involved.

After that work out, it was time for dinner....and since we were for sure having a bath that night, it was explore food with Malachi day!  Below you see him eating his Chicken, Portabella, and Rice dinner...

And above, you see Malachi eating his fruit from the pouch by himself!  It's a trick his friend Blake introduced to him!  Yum Yum!

Then it was time for the bath and bed. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz .  Nite nite.

A trip to the Zoo!

I got drenched in a short downpour.  Malachi didn't.  He was all covered up.  So, a new shirt from the gift shop and sunny skies we were out to see the animals :)

Malachi not so interested!
Blake having fun near the polar bear

Mommy and her friend Katie were the ones who were in love with seeing the Polar Bear so up close and personal!

It said babies only so Malachi checked it out for us.  Just another little duckling in the pond!
After awhile, a nap on mommy's back was just the thing he needed!

We saw a lion, some elephants, flamingos, the polar bear and a hippo!  Blake was being considered as a snack for the Dingos but he was a good boy and not offered to them.  We played in the nature center and saw ants and bees.  All in all a wonderful first trip to the Toledo Zoo!

Visits from far and wide

"Aunt" Anne came to visit from Chicago.  She was in need of some baby cuddles and dog lovies.  She is a Nanny in Chicago for two young precocious girls so my laid back baby boy  was a fun change of pace.  She's also a very good photographer...so she spoiled us with a few good photos of the boy!
He has such dreamy eyes, and when you catch him smiling perfect little dimples.
And see the WubbNub below...God bless WubbaNubs!

Time to play in the new exersaucer.  Time to chew and then be twirled around to new toys once in awhile.

Then it was time for "Auntie" Melinda to come and visit.  She brought her little dog Jack with her. Malachi liked all the attention from her and the fun of a little happy dog bouncing around.  (So did Nella!)  Melinda and I hadn't seen each other for around 9 years.  It was a nice visit!

Thoughts for Mother's Day

Caring for Kids -- The adoption agency who I worked with posted this. I do indeed give another part of my heart to Malachi's life-giving first birth mom.  And she has given part of her heart to me.  I'm honored.

2nd thoughts on Mother's day:  This is a prayer that I find most appropriate, hopeful, helpful, and covers most if not all of the bases of what this day can mean.

The Wide Spectrum of Mothering  written by Amy Young at www.messymiddle.com

To those who gave birth this year to their first child—we celebrate with you

To those who lost a child this year – we mourn with you

To those who are in the trenches with little ones every day and wear the badge of food stains – we appreciate you

To those who experienced loss through miscarriage, failed adoptions, or running away—we mourn with you

To those who walk the hard path of infertility, fraught with pokes, prods, tears, and disappointment – we walk with you. Forgive us when we say foolish things. We don’t mean to make this harder than it is.

To those who are foster moms, mentor moms, and spiritual moms – we need you

To those who have warm and close relationships with your children – we celebrate with you

To those who have disappointment, heart ache, and distance with your children – we sit with you

To those who lost their mothers this year – we grieve with you

To those who experienced abuse at the hands of your own mother – we acknowledge your experience

To those who lived through driving tests, medical tests, and the overall testing of motherhood – we are better for having you in our midst

To those who have aborted children – we remember them and you on this day

To those who are single and long to be married and mothering your own children – we mourn that life has not turned out the way you longed for it to be

To those who step-parent – we walk with you on these complex paths

To those who envisioned lavishing love on grandchildren -yet that dream is not to be, we grieve with you

To those who will have emptier nests in the upcoming year – we grieve and rejoice with you

To those who placed children up for adoption — we commend you for your selflessness and remember how you hold that child in your heart

And to those who are pregnant with new life, both expected and surprising –we anticipate with you

This Mother’s Day, we walk with you. Mothering is not for the faint of heart and we have real warriors in our midst. We remember you.

6 month pictures

6 months and a Monkey!

26.5 inches long and 19lbs strong!

Oh yeah, He's not a HAM at all!  How can you not love this baby?

Time flies if you can eat it!

Okay, the dog has to be under the covers, the kid was just fed and fell back asleep before getting him up for church, and you see that tiny little spot on the side -- that's what is left over for me.

Don't worry he's in his crib for 95% of his sleep time...we just snuggle in the morning over this breakfast bottle.

A new texture

Quinoa is an ancient grain and very yummy....it also turns into a great mushy mush when blended that seems to thicken things up a little bit.  Store bought purees are a bit too thin because he just wants to drink them!  He didn't want to eat any from his babysitter so that night, I let him feed himself.  Enjoy!

Picture updates

It was a good morning selfie!  Both of us were happy and ready to wake up!
I'm so awesome, I gotta wear shades!  Did you all know that if you protect baby eyes, that they are less likely to get cataracts when they are much older?  I didn't.  But now, he wears them when we're outside!  Hmm Mama needs a new pair of shades too.
5 Months!  Can you believe it already.  My how he's growing!

At last check...He's 26 inches long and 18lbs!  Not official but we'll find out next week at our 6 month check up!

Easter Morning Fun in his cute suite and tie...
the socks were kicked off by then!
